From a first impression, one may not be aware that this elegant cocktail, served in coupe-shaped glasses (we’re fascinated by the limited edition collaboration with designer Laila Gohar and the Luxury Collection), can be made from beer. This isn’t a Cosmopolitan, and it’s not an orange-colored Plane. Paper Plane: The cocktail uses the perfect scotch whiskey, Aperol, and citrus mix. It’s all finished off with a refreshing beer called IPA.
Although we are amazed by drinking a pint glass with an ice-cold Michelada or an essential Shandy, The It’s Bitter to Be Hoppy cocktail challenges the traditional cocktail drinks made with beer. A mix of Aperol and Scotch whiskey provides a unique flavor profile with notes of caramel, orange, and toasty oak from the scotch that has been aged in barrels. While any Scotch whisky can serve well, the drink’s creators would prefer Auchentoshan American oak single malt whisky made from scotch. This whisky is aged American oak Bourbon casks famous for their vanilla and toasted coconut scents. Imagine the aromas of a wealthy California Chardonnay often maturing within American oak. It is a smooth, luscious single-malt Scotch whisky that pairs well with various cocktails.
The drink is based on various citrus flavors that are bright and slightly bitter wine fruit juice for a brighter scotch. Six sips of lemon bitters with a savory flavor and sweet Aperol. Mixing citrus flavors, such as multiple kinds of citrus juice or mixing bitters and liquors, is a fantastic method to enhance the depth and sophistication of any drink.
To tie everything in, The It’s Bitter to be Hoppy drink is finished with a few inches of IPA (for the hops naturally). The beer gives the glass a brighter taste and a hefty dose of bitter, herbaceous flavor. The glass is balanced with just the right amount of sweetness, bitterness, and citrus taste. In just one sip, this drink will convince you that beer deserves an appearance in your pint and coupe glass.
