This year we published an article about a vegan who was disappointed when she was presented with a platter of dry, stale rocket leaves and slices of fruit at an event.
The photo of the plate taken by an attendee became viral online. The image consisted of a platter with an assortment of dried rocket leaves, three tiny pieces of honeydew melons, and several drops of what appeared to be balsamic dressing.
The post was then re-posted on Reddit and provoked fury among the users.
Someone wrote, “That’s embarrassing. I’ve been in the catering industry for many years and always provide vegan options for our plated dinners. The key to successful catering is good planning, and this is a scream of “afterthought.” It’s a shame.”
Becoming a Vegetarian
A third person said: “Man I’d have just left. If you think about the cost of weddings and venues can be really sloppy in catering to guests who have special requirements. It’s easy to cook incredible vegan food.”
Some people also said that the newlyweds ought to have been more vigilant and attentive, such as the following comment from one: “As a die-hard carnivore and vegan, I’m aware of how vegan food has changed over the past couple of years. It’s just ridiculous.”
Also being shared via social networks is the story of a woman who claims she was served bland vegan food in a French restaurant.
On the Twitter platform, Erin L. Thompson posted a photo of the rice dish spaghetti, spaghetti, sauce, and some chopped vegetables.
On Twitter, the woman complained, “Went to a restaurant in the French countryside for lunch and I asked if it was possible to have something vegetarian. I was given vegetables, rice, and spaghetti with no sauce.”
The tweet immediately drew attention, with more than two million views, many likes, and hundreds of retweeted tweets. The comments section on this post was flooded with various opinions from the public.
Someone wrote, “Went into a place in the Czech Republic for dinner, and I asked if it was possible to order a vegetarian meal. I received the reply, “No.”
A third person said: “Some restaurants straight up don’t even try, they’ll just make a face and say they don’t have anything vegetarian.”
However, a third party said, “You’re in the French countryside. It was a blessing to have something.”
