Snacks have become an important part of the health of consumers.Mondelez’s “The State of Snacking 2020” report, published in November 2020, shows that almost two-thirds (64%) are more aware of what snacks their bodies require. Over half (56%) are choosing immune-boosting snacks for their improved health.Brands are now launching products with immunity-enhancing ingredients to tap into this growing market. Cibo Vita, a US-based company, launched Probiotic Mega Immune Mix and Probiotic Immune Booster in February.These snacks contain probiotics and vitamins C, D, and zinc, which help to boost the body’s natural defenses.Avida Health also adds probiotics, as well as a variety of immune-boosting ingredients, to its snacks.In April of last year, the Singaporean company introduced its chocolate balls to promote immune health.The balls are made with Avida Health’s proprietary ingredient, Mushroom guard. It is formulated from six different types of mushrooms and helps regulate the immune system. Perkier will launch their new +Immune plant-based bars and pots in the UK in October 2020.The +Immune products are a UK first and contain 100% of the daily recommended intake of vitamins D, C, and B12. They also claim to help fight respiratory infections such as COVID-19. Casper, a mattress company, has also begun to explore the area of immune-boosting snacks.Joining up with US-based coffee company Bluestone Lane and herbal wellness brand Mab and Stoke, they created an immune-boostingcappuccino in March.The limited edition drink, released just after daylight saving went into effect, was designed to help customers counter the negative impact of losing one hour of sleep, as well as strengthen their immune system.
